Welcome to the Music Room where everyone learns to be Tuneful, Beatful and Artful! We sing, dance & play instruments, while we learn music theory, music history and music appreciation.

Watch the video to the right to learn about our Orff Schulwerk music classroom - where students learn to collaborate, communicate, think critically, and be creative.

My name is Iris Redmond. I am certified in Virginia to teach music to grades PreK-12. This is my 14th year teaching at West Point Elementary School. I am a career switcher. Before I started teaching music, I was a lawyer. Career switching was the best decision I ever made!

I am a California native and went to Wheaton College in Illinois and law school in Sacramento, California. While in college I took private violin lessons, Music Appreciation classes, and played violin in the Symphony Orchestra and various ensembles. I currently play violin at Stone House Presbyterian, with the Northern Neck Orchestra, and in "the pit" for the WPHS musicals. I also love to sing and have sung in countless choirs. I play guitar, ukulele, recorder, and a bit of piano.

I also love technology! I started teaching computer classes at WPES 10 years ago, and now I assist teachers to integrate technology into their curriculum. I am also the school webmaster and calendar updater, among other tech duties.

I love teaching WPES students and am lucky to say I love my job!
