West Point Public Schools is excited to announce a partnership with a research team from Virginia Commonwealth University as part of their capstone project. Together, we are exploring topics such as school start times, intervention periods, and overall school day schedules.
The goal of this research is to gather valuable insights and feedback to help us better serve our students. Please note: This survey is solely for information-gathering purposes and does not indicate any immediate changes to our current schedule. All responses to this survey are anonymous.

Ms. Harlow's third-grade reading groups spent time reading and comparing fiction and non-fiction books based on robots. This week, they concluded the unit and researched how to build a robot and we were able to build a robot with a small motor and AA batteries. The students concentrated on reading, research, mathematics, the scientific method, and working as a team to solve problems!

Mrs. Brizendine's 1st grade class learned how citizens vote on Election Day. Students had three candidates on the ballot (two book characters, and Mrs. Brizendine). Students stood in line, went to a booth to vote privately, and received stickers. Mrs. Brizendine won the popular vote! Congratulations!

Mrs. Gowers' first graders practiced addition skills with various fall activities today! They added two single-digit numbers using dice, decorated a pumpkin, and created a pumpkin wagon! They also created sentences. They loved showing their creativity and mastery of addition facts!
